In "An Imagined World" - 2025

Dr. Reem Hassan does not simply present floral or ornamental scenes. Instead, she constructs an alternative world—a reality reimagined through the senses. This world does not mirror reality; it reinvents it, dismantling its sensory boundaries and rearranging its elements into a visual language that pulses with what may be called: "emotional reality."

The project begins with a central philosophical question:

Can ornamentation serve as an epistemological structure, not merely as a decorative device?
Can a flower function as a temporal code, storing memory and releasing it through color and echo?

In these works, color becomes a field of thought—transcending visual perception and venturing into the realm of emotional depths. Ornamentation, seemingly repetitive on the surface, unfolds as geological strata of memory, where times intersect and identities emerge. The flower, both feminine and cosmic in symbolism, is not presented as a visual motif, but as an echo, an inner voice reverberating through the pictorial structure.

"An Imagined World" is not fantasy in the superficial sense; rather, it is a parallel world that borrows from the present only to reshape it through a contemplative code—where ornament becomes an architecture of sensation, and the flower transforms into a poetic sign embedded in a field of layered visual meaning.

The aim of this body of work is not beautification. Rather, it seeks to fracture the surface of everyday perception, allowing light to pass through—light imbued with symbolism, longing, and a sense of belonging that is both personal and universal. These are works not merely to be seen, but to be read, interpreted, and summoned, like visions in moments of deep silence.
